The golf towel is perhaps the most underrated accessory in your bag. It costs little, weighs next to nothing – and is used on pretty much every hole. Here we go over why it makes a difference, what to consider when choosing, and introduce our new towel series in three colors: Club, Tour and Major.
Why use a golf towel?
Dirt, grass and moisture affect the contact between club, ball and hand more than most people think.
The grooves in irons and wedges are there to give the ball spin and control. When they fill with dirt and grass, you lose some of that effect – especially on approaches to the green where spin matters most. A quick wipe after each shot keeps the grooves clean.
The same goes for the grip. A damp morning round or a hot summer day with sweaty hands means that the grip will easily start to slip. Dry hands and a dry grip will give you a more stable swing.
And on the green: a clean ball rolls more smoothly. A little grass or dirt on the ball is enough to affect a putt.
What should you consider when choosing?
All golf towels look about the same in pictures – but the material, size and fastening determine how well they work on the course.
Material. Cotton is soft, absorbs water well and can withstand many washes, making it a safe choice for both clubs and hands.
Size. Around 60 x 40 cm is just right – big enough to dry both the club head and grip, but not so big that it gets in the way of your bag.
Folding. A three-part fold means that the towel hangs neatly and is easy to grip with one hand between folds.
Attachment. A sturdy carabiner ensures that the towel stays on the bag the entire round – even on a trolley or when the bag is put down.

How to use the towel during the round
The towel is most useful when used as a habit – not just when the club is visibly dirty.
Dry the clubhead after each shot from the fairway or rough, before returning the club to the bag. Dry your hands and grip before hitting, especially on a humid day. And dry the ball after you've marked it on the putting green.
One tip is to moisten a third of the towel before the round and keep the rest dry – then you have both a wet part to remove soil from the tracks and a dry part for your hands and grip.
Complete the bag
It's the little things in the bag that make the round go smoother.
