Most golfers rarely think about where the leather in their golf gloves has been processed. We do it almost every day.
Because behind most of our Tour gloves is a long tradition of leather preparation, tanning and glove manufacturing in a place that has become well-known in the golf industry:
Indonesia.
Indonesian Cabretta leather has become a reference for golfers looking for the classic Tour feel.
When Indonesia means golf gloves
When most people think of Indonesia, their thoughts probably go to Bali, beaches and rice fields.
We are also thinking about leather.
Especially in the area around Yogyakarta, where there have long been specialized tanneries and manufacturers of leather gloves. The knowledge is not in a single machine or in a single step. It runs through the entire process – from selection and sorting to tanning, softening and surface treatment.
Each step affects how the finished golf glove feels, which is why two gloves that are both described as Cabretta can still feel completely different.
Cabretta is just the beginning
In the golf world, cabretta is used as the name for a fine and soft leather that is particularly suitable for golf gloves where feel, flexibility and fit are the focus.
But the word cabretta is no guarantee that all leathers are the same.
The raw material is important. What happens next is at least as important.
The leather must be sorted. Tanned. Softened. Sometimes dyed. Processed to the right thickness and given a surface that provides the right balance between grip, elasticity and suppleness.
Each tannery works with its own processes and compositions. The precise methods are often an important part of the tannery's professional expertise, while manufacturing must comply with the rules and requirements that apply to chemicals, the work environment and material handling.
The special feeling
What we primarily look for in Indonesian cabretta leather is the combination of softness and elasticity.
A good leather doesn't just feel soft when you put the glove on. It should follow your hand as your fingers bend, mold to your fit, and provide a secure grip on the club without feeling stiff or bulky.
Soft – but not flabby.
Thin – but with a clear contact with the club grip.
Supple – with a slightly elastic, almost rubbery feel that allows the glove to mold to the hand.
It is this combination that has made Indonesian cabretta leather so appreciated in many of the world's premium and Tour gloves.
Our classic Tour models
We use Indonesian cabretta leather in most of our Tour models.
One of the most classic is ÉSTÁNDAR – a clean, white Tour glove where the material and feel are the focus.
STANDARS Men
A classic white golf glove made from Indonesian cabretta leather, designed for a soft and supple Tour feel.

The same classic feel and material, developed with a fit tailored for women.
See ÉSTÁNDAR Ladies →Another favorite is our recurring TG series , which we launch in new editions. CAMARERO has also become something of a modern classic among Swedish golfers.
In addition, we use Indonesian cabretta leather in models such as 804, AT, TG26, Road To Åland and several other Tour gloves.
xTHIN – the exception in the Tour series
The only one of our current Tour models not made from Indonesian cabretta leather is the xTHIN – in fact, one of our most popular models.
xTHIN is made from a similar thin premium leather originating in Pakistan. The tanning process has been developed to create a soft and supple feel that is close to the Indonesian cabretta, but with the extreme thinness that is the very idea behind xTHIN.
It's not exactly the same feeling. But it comes very close – and for xTHIN, the material provides the properties we want.
Are our other golf gloves worse?
No.
The question is a bit like asking whether a Porsche is always better than a Škoda.
On a race track? Then many people choose the Porsche.
But on a holiday trip, for everyday use or when the family needs to pack, the Škoda can be a much smarter choice.
The same goes for golf gloves.
A thin Tour glove made from Indonesian cabretta leather is designed for maximum feel and close contact with the club. Other models are designed for extra durability, rain, cold, frequent training or a specific wear pattern.
All of our gloves have their own function and target group. We wouldn't have developed them otherwise.
But if you want to have a Porsche on your hand, Indonesian cabretta leather is a very good place to start.
And if you choose it from Golfvante, you get a glove developed together with some of the most reputable tanneries and manufacturers in the premium segment.
